Madama Butterfly

This is one of the greatest and most popular operas of all time, a perfect “first” opera. Puccini’s lyrical score, touched by authentic Japanese tunes, soars from one moment to the next in this story of love, seduction and tragic betrayal. You will hear Patricia Racette, who has dazzled audiences in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and at the Metropolitan Opera as Cio-Cio-San (“Madama Butterfly”).

Pre-opera: Join the group from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for a reception at Currant Brasserie in The Sofia Hotel, www.currantrestaurant.com. Enjoy conversation, wine and substantial hors d’oeuvres plus dessert then walk five minutes to the opera, which begins at 8 p.m. This is an optional event for $39 with a minimum sign-up of 50 people by May 1.

Hotel Room Discount: If you would like to spend the night in the city after the opera, The Sofia Hotel offers opera patrons a special rate of $145 + tax for their Deluxe Queen Room, based on availability. You must book by May 1. This offer is posted at www.sdopera.com under the tab Your Experience/Hotels.

If you have questions, please email SDAP at info@sdaph.org.
